Capture One has released Capture One 22 15.1. The free update includes HDR Merge improvements, user management revisions, and DJI Mavic 3 native DNG support. Also, Capture One Live has finally come out of BETA.

Let’s start with HDR Merge updates.

HDR Merge Improvements

HDR Merge has got several useful improvements:

  • Lens Correction adjustments from input RAWs are now carried over to the merged DNG file.
  • Developers have improved exposure balance of the final DNG.
  • RAW files from monochrome cameras can now be merged to HDR and stitched to Panorama.
  • HDR Merge has got general stability improvements.

Capture One Live

In the recent post, we’ve discussed Capture One tools for remote work, and I’ve shared my experience of using Capture One Live BETA.
Now, Capture One Live is officially released as a new paid add-on service. It has also got several new features:

New Interface

There is no standalone tool for Capture One Live anymore. You can access Live tool from Toolbar:

Multiple Live Session support

Previously, you were limited to one active Live Session at one time. Now, you can have multiple Live Sessions simultaneously.

Extended Live Session duration

In the BETA, Live Session was active for up to 24 hours. With the release, your Live Sessions are available for up to 7 days.

Add Watermark

To add a watermark to your Live session images, you need to follow these steps:
1) Open the Exporter window and select one of your Export Recipes.
2) Add a watermark to this recipe. Do not export images.
3) Make sure that this recipe is selected and close the Exporter window.
4) Go to View > Recipe Proofing and enable it
5) Start a Live session

Capture One developers plan to make watermarking easier with future updates, as well as to implement comments and other new features to Capture One Live.

Pricing

Well, it was obvious that Capture One Live couldn’t be free forever.
All Capture One 22 users have 5 Live Sessions free of charge. If you need more sessions, you can subscribe to Capture One Live for 9.99 USD per month. Note that Capture One Live requires Capture One 22 license.

Improved user management

Capture One user management has been redesigned, and there is no need for a license key for the trial version any more. Capture One has also got a new user authentication system.

With these changes, Capture One has removed two activation methods:

  • Offline activation
  • Hands-free activation on MacOS

It means that you need to be online when activating Capture One 22 (15.1.0) and future versions.
